Confession...

I want a Snuggie. I've laughed and scoffed at how ridiculous it is but as I sit here, surfing the net, I find myself in need of one. I have a blanket on my legs and my arms are cold... yet I want to be able to type... can't do that with the blanket all the way to my neck. C says to get a sweater, I say get me a Snuggie. A pink one.

Awesomely Awful

This hat is described as having a "spirit of antiquity, genuineness, and warmth". Well, genuine is one way to describe it. WHO would wear this? It's $32 by Iryna.

Awesomely Awesome
This knitted hat is so ME... cute as a button, right? A bit pricy at $34 from NogginsBeanies but extremely cute.

Crochet Fingerless Gloves

Thank you to Sue, from Sue's Crochet and Knitting for permission to use her pattern in this video. The video is made with the glove for women. The male version, is a larger version for the same style.

This pattern can easily be modified to make the glove with 2 or 3 ply yarn. Start the pattern with the cuff. The cuff will have more rounds so you will start off with more stitches creating the palm and thumb increase section. Everything throughout the pattern will be the same other than working more rounds and more stitches in each round.

Copyright on the Finished Piece

I learn new things about copyright all of the time. This article about pattern copyright, is related to selling your finished crochet pieces upon completion, when the author says you may not sell your finished piece. The actual written pattern is copyright and may not be sold or redistributed, unless you have permission from the author. The only place I have seen authors do this is on the Internet. Copyright does not cover the finished work. You are not required to ask permission to sell your finished piece. If you have an opportunity to make some money from your crochet work, sell it. Before the Internet, I had never heard of a statement like that attached to crochet patterns. Maybe that is why the statement does not exist in crochet magazines. Copyright only protects your body of work like pictures, graphics, video, recording and writing that you have done yourself. It does not protect an idea or finished piece.

I love the look of this bag and the fact that you can get it in any fabric that you want... although I like this one for fall. It's big enough to carry all my stuff plus diapers, wipes, a sippy and even my camera. $69.99 from Xcessrize.

Awesomely Awful:
You can get this lovely.... purse? at Pursapalooza for $50. Not a good investment considering you have to groom it and perhaps feed it every now and then. What has red fur!?

Work the crochet button first to make sure it will fit through the button hole.

ButtonHole on Strap
Work an even amount of single crochet on each side of of the strap.
Side 1 Row 31-34: Work 1 SC in ea of the next 3 stitches.

Side 2 Row 31-34: Work 1 SC in ea of the next 3 stitches.

Join with a slip stitch at the top to the opposite single crochet. Slip Stitch across to the edge. Turn.

Row 35-36: Chain 1, Work 1 SC in ea SC across.

Crochet Button
Work the magic circle or a chain 3, join.

Round 1: Ch 1, work 6 SC in the loop or chain. Do not join and work in a continual round. This will be working the first stitch in the top of the first single crochet.

Round 2: Work 2 SC in ea SC around.

Round 3-5: Work 1 SC in ea SC around.

Weave the tapestry need through the last round of stitches, pull to close the back. Sew and knot the back of the button.

Date Night!

Tonight's date night was nice :) We actually started at lunch time with lunch at Pei Wei and some shopping at Best Buy and JoAnn (fair trade). Later we went out early to UMBC to get our tickets and hang out at the bar there (gasp). Good thing we went early to get to the show... there was already a line so we waited an hour and half in the cold and rain but got good seats!

Go Retrievers!
We've got the fever...
Ok so here's proof that I actually drank. I know, it looks like fruit punch but it's actually white zinfandel. Further proof I can't freaking drink... I didn't get tipsy or anything but I turned RED, just burning red. It's like the alcohol goes straight to my blood stream! In any case, we had a good time and talked to the head of Alumni relations who has already seen T's blog! He saw his UMBC photo shoot... pretty cool. T is famous.
We played pool for a little bit...
Not bad for five years of not playing!
The TV ad in the Commons for what was coming up!
Waiting in the rain.... still freaking red....
Demetri!!! He was hilarious, as always.

Yay for date night!

Voltandooooooooooo .......

Desculpem a falta de tempo, mas andei atrapalhada e enlouquecida com a reforma da  minha cozinha que, felizmente,  acabou......

Então estou voltando ao poucos , com saudade de vcs e dos lindos trabalhos que ainda não vi...

Photo Shoot

Last year our friend W took pictures of us as a family... kinda hard to take family photos when you're the one behind the camera! The photos turned out GREAT! We went to the park in the fall and had lots of great fall colors for our pictures. This year, we're doing it again but we're going to the Harbor for our photos. Now, we have to decide what to wear! Check out some choices on this photographer's website. I like the first, second and fourth. What do you think?

Etsy Find Wednesdays #7

Today I was searching for "green living"... while this is not exactly what I was looking for, it certainly is GREEN and LIVING.

Awesomely Awesome:
This little terrarium is so cute and whimsical... caught my eye. I love anything miniature! This terrarium is $32.00... not sure I want to spend that much on it but I would if I had money to waste. Check out doodlebirdie's shop!

Awesomely Awful:
This "terrarium" creeps me OUT. I'm sure some can find some artistic elements to like but I would NOT want this in my house, especially for $65.00! Check out buffalosister's shop if interested.

Etsy Find Wednesdays #6

Today's finds were actually inspired by the "Awesomely Awful" find... I couldn't even begin to think how that would be categorized! So, I decided to find something cute and seasonal that was crocheted.

Awesomely Awesome

These cute little pumpkins can be found at EternalSunshine's shop for $7 each. A bit pricey but still cute!

Awesomely Awful

This was listed under halloween costume. It's... a nose warmer. While my nose does get cold in the winter, my dignity doesn't freeze over. A bargain at $5 bucks, get yours today from auntmartymadeit's shop. No thanks, Aunt Marty, I'd rather have frost bite.

Plan, plan, plan!

I've been planning T's birthday for a while. I finally have all the details straightened out. I decided not to have the party at my house and to invite more kids since he's playing with others more. I finished the favors today so I'm excited about it :)

The invites I designed from scratch! I'm finally mastering all that PhotoShop has to offer... not bad for first try!?
Box full of favors!
The box I got at Party City. Cute, no!?
I decided to keep it simple and not "junky"
Candy, a temp tattoo, Playdoh and a bouncy ball. Who doesn't love all that!?

The menu has also changed to pizza, cake and drinks. Keeping life simple!

Count Your Blessings Tuesday #4

Today I'm grateful for:

* Awesome co-workers who make going to work less traumatic

* T who makes me laugh on an daily basis and is never short on hugs

* My awesome mom for showing me you're never too old to pick up shooting (yes, she got her gun license and a gun and now goes to the range to shoot)

* C for making me feel beautiful and also making me laugh

Where I want to be...

Ok so I've always struggled with weight... and I finally had gotten to a size that I was happy with. Yeah, I had a kid, yeah, I know I look "fine" but it's not how I want to look. So, I'm putting it out there... I don't want to get like this:
But I do want to get back to this...

I'm lost somewhere in between. Maybe by this time next year I'll be there! Minus the glasses wearing dog.

Etsy Find Wednesdays...on a Friday

As per S's request, I have reinstated Etsy finds.... I can't let her down. Today's search was inspired by my new desire to wear flowers in my hair. I wore one the other day and got so many compliments I think I should try and get a few more. I'll be the next Niecy Nash!

Awesomely Awesome:
This "autumn assortment" of flowers costs just $6.50 from girlsgirlsgirls. I think it would look cute :)

Awesomely Awful:
Speaking of hair accessories... WHEN would this be necessary... especially with the price tag of $95 dollars. If interested, check out che4u's shop.
