Project #1: Car canvas

I just finished T's car canvas.  I used an old canvas and painted over it... did some short brush strokes to give the canvas some texture.  I bought two retro Matchbox cars and glued them on.... overall this project cost me $2 (cars $99 cents each).  Not bad, huh?

DONE!

I FINALLY finished editing the wedding photos.  After taking a brief vacation from them while I went to FL, I'm done ;)  I went from 500 photos to about 250... I think I did an OK job on their wedding and I wouldn't mind doing a wedding again.  While it was stressful it was a lot of fun as well.  If you want to check out the photos click here and let me know what you think!

    Home Improvement

Not the 90s show, my house ;)  Although I do wonder what JTT is doing now....

Anyway,  I'm getting ready to re-do Toby's room and our bathroom.  I played around on the Behr website and came up with the final colors for both rooms.  Toby's room is going to be car themed since my sister gave me a traffic light and traffic signs while I was in FL and Toby was in love.  I'm SO not ready to part with the baby room that I spent so much time planning but the kid has his own mind now.  Our master bathroom is going to be what I call "beachy" with blue walls, white trim and dark brown cabinets.

Toby's room... the wall where his bed is is going to be blue and the other walls will be tan.  The trim, door, etc will be white.  The accessories have red and yellow and other primary bright colors.  I think the colors I picked will go with any other theme he might be interested in later on.

The bathroom walls will be the blue.... the cabinet color will be something much darker than what's here... couldn't find what I wanted on the Behr site.  Trim and doors will be white and accessories will have tan/blue and some splashes of color.

Paint purchased.   Decor items mapped out and some even purchased.  Operation re-decor is a go!

    Do blondes have more fun?

I sure hope so!  I went in for "partial" highlights and came out blonde.  I'm in shock... I didn't go in for such a drastic change so it'll take a while to get used to.  What do you think?

Video Tutorial:  Left Hand Crochet Solid Hexagon

    Skill Level - Easy

    Abbreviations
    DC - Double Crochet
    HDC - Half Double Crochet
    CH - Chain
    SL ST - Slip Stitch

    Materials
    Size I/5.5 mm crochet hook
    4 ply yarn
    Tapestry Needle

Note:  I always use a chain 1 as the step up at the beginning of the round to create full stitches at the beginning of my work.  The chain tends to leave gaps and holes.  You can use other techniques for the beginning stitch on your round.  The outcome will be the same.

Attach a slip knot to the crochet hook.

Make a chain of 4, join with the beginning chain.

Round 1: Work a chain 1, this will not count as a stitch,  *Work 2 DC through the center of the chain, CH 2.  Complete 5 times total from *.  Work 2 more DC, CH 1, SC in the first stitch to join.

Round 2: Work a chain 1, this will not count as a stitch, *Work 2 DC through the same CH space, work 1 DC in ea of the next 2 stitches. Work 2 DC in the next CH 2 space, CH 2. Complete 5 times from *.  Work 1 DC in ea of the next 2 stitches. Work 2 more DC, CH 1, SC in the first stitch to join.

Round 3: Work a chain 1, this will not count as a stitch, *Work 2 DC through the same CH space, work 1 DC in ea of the next 6 stitches. Work 2 DC in the next CH 2 space, CH 2. Complete 5 times from *.  Work 1 DC in ea of the next 6 stitches. Work 2 more DC, CH 1, SC in the first stitch to join.

Round 4: Work a chain 1, this will not count as a stitch, *Work 2 DC through the same CH space, work 1 DC in ea of the next 10 stitches. Work 2 DC in the next CH 2 space, CH 2. Complete 5 times from *.  Work 1 DC in ea of the next 10 stitches. Work 2 more DC, CH 1, SC in the first stitch to join.

Round 5: Work a chain 1, this will not count as a stitch, *Work 2 DC through the same CH space, work 1 DC in ea of the next 14 stitches. Work 2 DC in the next CH 2 space, CH 2. Complete 5 times from *.  Work 1 DC in ea of the next 14 stitches. Work 2 more DC, CH 1, SC in the first stitch to join.

Round 6: Work a chain 1, this will not count as a stitch, *Work 2 DC through the same CH space, work 1 DC in ea of the next 18 stitches. Work 2 DC in the next CH 2 space, CH 2. Complete 5 times from *.  Work 1 DC in ea of the next 18 stitches. Work 2 more DC, CH 1, SC in the first stitch to join.

Round 7: Work a chain 1, this will not count as a stitch, *Work 2 DC through the same CH space, work 1 DC in ea of the next 22 stitches. Work 2 DC in the next CH 2 space, CH 2.
